The three artists met as students at the Julian Ashton Art School. There they learnt the basic skills of the traditional artist. They have since gone off on their own tangents – each developing unique individual styles inspired by their varied life experiences – Bev in figurative work, Yuri in still life and Doffy in sculpture.

Bev Davies

Bev lives and works in Sydney.

She enjoys portraiture and has more recently shifted to figurative work. Both these areas of art expression have links with her occupation in Mental Health and her interests in philosophy and body language.

She also enjoys exploring colour.

Bev completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Studio) at the College of Fine Arts, UNSW and also studied part time at the Julian Ashton Art School.

She was the winner of the Berkelouw Self Portrait Prize in 2008, and the Portrait section of the Drummoyne Art Show in 2007.

She has also been a finalist in the Portia Geach Memorial Awards, Mosman Art Prize and other group exhibitions.

Yuri Shimmyo

Yuri is a Sydney based painter and printmaker.  She mainly works in oils, acrylics and lino cuts.   Yuri’s always been interested in painting ordinary things she sees in everyday life – people, places and objects.  Her current body of work consists mainly of plants – flowers, shrubs and weeds.

Yuri has been a finalist in art prizes including, Mosman Art Prize and Portia Geach Memorial Awards.

Doffy White

Doffy’s oeuvre has been portraiture, but after recently completing her Bachelor of Fine Art at the National Art School, she has branched out into sculpture.

She prefers to create small works to instil a feeling of intimacy that can sometimes be lost in larger works.

For this exhibition, she has combined small bronze works with whimsical papier mâché figures.
